There is one level at which hosting a blog of this nature seems a bit presumptuous. After all, does it not assume that people value, or should value, what I have to say so much that a website should exist to announce my thoughts to the public? The whole thing feels quite odd, I must confess.
And yet, here we are. This blog was born out of prompting and feedback by mentors and friends over a long period of time. Beyond the subject matter of the blog itself, one of its aims is to publicly model winsome and charitable dialogue in the face of disagreement. Such interaction is, regrettably, scarce in today's cultural climate in which lines have been drawn, winning and losing are ultimate and tribalism is often decisive. My hope is that this blog represents a sharp departure from what many of us have come to expect in discussing controversial issues.
As for me, I am a pastor/elder at a Reformed Baptist church. I have degrees in analytic philosophy and theology/divinity, neither of which are impressive. I also have a beautiful wife and two beautiful children; they are, in fact, impressive. I love golf, college football, designer board games and reading.
My hope is that your time here will not be a waste and that your mind and heart will be engaged as I seek to pull down tools from academic philosophy and theology into street level conversations and analysis.
